your master cruelty is so self-conscious


reassuring the ignorant and proud
that their misery has worth as freedom
that there lies a future seen beyond their greed
beyond their lust for your destruction,


reassuring you that there exists an end to fear of love
within any span of time measured in the depth and breadth
of terror's isolation.
