lester wilson shot a man
'e shot 'im in th' back
defenses down,
not once nor twice but
fourteen 'oles was found.

lester wilson ran, 'e did
'e crawled from town t' town
covered 'is tracks wi' smiles
an' friends 'e'd found.

an' yet
a better man than dan, was 'e
for daniel pines don't own a gun
an' 'e's always lived in wilmington
but 'e's murdered many
as I should know,
don't tyke th' body
just th' soul.
'tis a slow dyin'll come t' you
