The Complete Works of Sugarpie Rabbit, Autumn 1994 through 1996
Author's Preface

a sound
was created after-the-fact, as a correction to existing divisions of my work by epoch

.
Because the

epoch is so much briefer than the others, on that basis it would seem justifiable to consider it an interlude between epochs.
In considering this contrast I did, however, uncover a fundamental spiritual event within its span, without which

much of what I experienced across the next epoch —
In A Rib
— if happening at all, would have been incomprehensible or, at best, misunderstood.
For that reason alone, even if atypical,
a sound
deserves its status as epoch at
SPR.
This very brief epoch takes its name from a piece written in commemoration of its single, epoch-defining event,
a sound

In the context of Sugarpie Rabbit(SPR)'s writings, "epoch" refers to an author-defined division of life so meaningful-by-theme of life-experience
as to have uniquely shaped and/or directed the writing of its titles.
These epochs are generally, but not always, either begun or ended (or both) by a hallmark spiritual event in the author's life.
(For examples and more information in specific, see individual prefaces by epoch.)
3
Beyond the negative effect its absence would have had on writings immediately following this epoch, it is doubtful that SPR's life could have unfolded as it did, much less spawned [writing-] epochs similar to those which now exist.

preface
to the following epoch,
