day 2
you gave to me your heart
i saw you cross the field
my love could not be veiled
across the harvest i saw your face shining
your radiance commands my soul
above the grasses at my feet
your heart encompassed the sky
it came to me, descended when i could not fly
to reach its towering majesty
to touch the lips you bent to me,
it came to me, vibrant and entire
and you entered my soul, took possession of my woundedness
made your own what can never die.
your arms enfolded my weakness
your strength uplifted my soul
across the field you reached for me
and gathered my design into your mind
you sang to earths worms, you caressed every tree
you covered me with kisses
love burned every husk that stood before me
reduced to cinders every thread of my garments
left me naked and ravished
smeared against the length of your skin.
you bathed me in your river
soldered my woe into your heart
you suffered every wound,
rubbed sweet salve deep beneath my broken bones
held them firm as plaster against your breast
never shall i return to memory
never to remake my name i wait forever
upon my lord
who reclaims me in beauty and desire
who writes eternity
who pleasures god.
