Arise!

Awaken that which drowses heavily within
.......at the feet of your every undertaking:

Set down the tools of your trade
.......those registries of reputation;
Strip off your garments of identity
.......with its badges of accomplishment;
Build a pyre of concern and walk away
.......while smoke still rises ~ cinders flying
.......wear this soot, your single ornament.

 

Become your every hunger, meals of joy:

Let your heart rise to the sky at rain's end
.......and to the churning clouds at her beginning.
Dance when to walk is tiresome;
Laugh at silence when you have no answer;
Always sing out in the name of your Lord
.......but never name Him ~ He is named
.......in in the ashes on your cheek, and crowned
.......in the murmurs of your happiness.

 

Do not go back to sleep!

Take up this moment of arousal as perfect arms
against Apathy, immutable shield
against Sorrow and Forgetfulness.
