Into the Woods

Fall is a wonderful time in Wisconsin. There are few things more beautiful than the trees and foliage, the forests and fields of Wisconsin in autumn. We took our camera into the woods to try to capture a mere sample of this special time. We include here two brief excerpts from Hyemeyohsts Storms's "Song of Heyoehkah."

The trail into the forest.

"Like a song we awaken within the path of our discovery and marvel at our reflection upon the holy mountain. And like the tiniest stream of water within those mountains, we search for the flowers that will nourish our dream...

We come upon this valley with its' cliff and trees.

"It is the Medicine Way of touching everything that is sacred in the dance of promise. This is the gift of the rainbow, our fantasy. ...

An incredible explosion of color and light in a maple tree.

"A million painted leaves sleep under the white robe of winter. They sleep in remembrance, mirroring all that was seen when they danced in the trees...

A hollowed out log along the trail.

"Each reflection holds within it the summer place and touches rainbow medicines as the leaves come to earth for rest...

The forest floor contains scenes of beauty and change.

"The moccasins of the People move through these singing leaves, even while winter protects them, changing what was into spring again."

The sunlight upon the turning leaves.

Enjoy this Fall!
