Heavy Rains and High Water
Spring came slowly, and as soon as it arrived, the rains came as well. Just as Farmers began their field-work, just as gardeners began to till and plant--Western Wisconsin and much, if not all, of Wisconsin began to experience heavy rains and rising water lines.
This picture shows the overflowing stream-banks of the "Little Lemonweir River" in Juneau County.
The opening of Trout Fishing season in Wisconsin is met with some frustration as the familiar fishing areas are swollen with water and nearly inaccessible.
Along Hwy. 12-16 areas of the Lemonweir River overflows the river banks and leave trees and ground swamped.
The dam in New Lisbon struggles to keep up with the flood waters. There is very little difference in water heights on either side of the dam.
It has happened before, and will happen again. Once again nature has its own way and the people of West Central Wisconsin adapt to necessity.
