If we ever doubt that its a hard thing to translate the age old wisdom to a younger generation take a listen to one individuals testimony.
When reciting the Lords prayer one young child reaching this line said it this way " lead us not into temptation but deliver us some e mail."
We laugh, but think deeper, what if God could send us an e mail whether we need it or not. I get about 30 e mails a day now. Two of them are my zip code weather forecasts by an area T-V station and often the rest go right to the recycle bin. Is that what we would do to an e mail from God, send it to the recycle bin without reading it? Unless we know the sender its often hard to get us to look at a message. If it was signed God, we would probably say, "Whos kidding who." To get our attention such messages often begin, read this John, or "free." A message from God wouldnt need to read free. Wed know this in the beginning. But yet messages from God are often very costly yet priceless in the end. We might have to give up things we like the most to achieve His will. We might have to reorder our priorities, putting our first last and his purpose forefront. That is how do I spend my time, how do I maximize my talents for him, how do I spend my dollars. He said, seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will come into focus. (Mt.6:33)
But come to think even more about it, dont we have an age old message system with God. Its called prayer.
