My Prayer (1924)

Give me an eye, Oh Father.

Give me an eye, the kind,

That when friend or foe look in it,

Thy wonderful love they shall find.

Give me an eye that will carry

Thy wonderful love to man,

Take out all evil within it,

Thou are the only one can.

Clean it and polish it daily

In the clear pool of thy love.

Then shall it serve thee,

And meet thy clear eye from above
