The Gift
No gift, precious or rare,
Compares with the gift
God chose to show his care,
A love for the world that sent
His own son, Bethlehems child,
Love for all mankind
Revealed in a stable event.
No gift, ancient or new,
Has confounded the ages
Like the gift he shares with you:
Ever new, yet always the same,
Proclaimed the long awaited Messiah,
Alpha and Omega,
A cross demonstrating why he came.
No gift, great or small,
A magis homage or a meager offering
Means more to him who came to call
Everyone to the light,
Undimmed by darkness,
Than the bringing of self,
A gift that is right in his sight.
