About 30 young people from age 20 months through our youth assistants participated in our "Way To Go," Daily Vacation Bible School centering down on Luke 10:27. However, they were never all here at the same time. The children were divided into 3 groups, older, younger and preschool. As they gathered with the assistance of Marilyn Walden, they received their passports and visas for the day. They were then led to the challenge board which sought to get them to guess who the friend in the Bible Story would be by looking up the daily scripture in the Bible.
At 9:15 the whole group shared in an opening half hour of music, with Delores Nash, then word for the day, led by Director Susan Donahoe and the Bible Story with Ernie Schneider enrapturing and energizing the group to make clear the word for the day.
We then moved into our groups. The Preschoolers, led by Susan, Margaret Clark , youth assistant Anna Donahoe and youth guide, Brittney Jacobson, did all of their activities in one room. The other 2 groups, designated Josiahs and Sonjas by their prime youth guides, rotated through three learning centers and a snack time. Faith, the third outstanding guide, was the Mission Center assistant and a super guide as needed. The youth guides, above the student age limit of 5th grade, were mostly from Faith Christian. They participated with their groups in each activity and acted as role models with their enthusiasm.
These centers included a mission center, led by Joyce Martin and Eleanor Davey, a craft center, led by Cindy Roskie of Faith Christian and Terry Schultz, with youth assistant Molly Donahoe, and a recreation center exhaustingly led by John Bauserman and Ernie Schneider. The designated snack time with the peerless Donna Saemisch and ably assisted by jack of all errands Erich was enjoyed by all. Our equally peerless Dana Fitzgerald was photographer par excellance. If you access our web site you will see her photographs highlighting many of the special events of our church family. All of these activities were used to make clear the word for the day and the theme Bible verse of the week and what it should mean to all of us. The day ended with a summation, a song and a cheer identifying us as Gods team.
These were the Words for each day.
