Are the statements below a true picture of our post-modern world that is really just like the pre-Christian environment? Are you troubled or caught up in any of these kinds of situations and struggling to find a way out or are we in Mauston immune from these influences?
1- A world of revolutionary change. Can our children and grandchildren find a meaningful place in it?
2- A world of many cultures most visible to us in language. Are we learning Spanish and Chinese in addition to English, or German and Russian?
3- A people too often with zero starting points, that is, little foundational Biblical knowledge, theological awareness or churchy commitment. Does this make a difference in our world and yours?
4- A people with an intense yearning to make sense of life and find our fulfilling place in it. Do we put on a brave front to hide our deepest concerns?
5- A world of too few victors and too many victims, billionaires and layoffs, empowered or abused in personal relationships, challenged by many forms of addiction, minor or major. Are you willing to find a way out?
6- A mobile people. Where does your family live? How many places have you lived in your life? What effect does this have on each of the people involved?
7- Virtual lifestyles where we act out people we are not or the person we hope to be. Would it help you to explore ways to "get real?"
8- Essential relationships. Are you satisfied?
9- Deep skepticism. Do you want to go for hope?
