The matrix represented here provides early childhood practitioners and leaders with an organization of the concepts and resources that lead to quality early education and care programs for all children, including children with special needs. Approaches to learning and leadership which support young children with special needs are the same approaches which maximize learning for all young children.
This matrix has also been conceptualized as a “web path” for those early education and care professionals who are interested in becoming leaders within the field. There is no beginning or ending indicated in this configuration as the path can be followed in any direction, without regard to sequence, to meet the goals of knowledge and successful leadership in the education and care of young children.
