Early Childhood Leadership and Program Support

The Early Childhood Leadership Initiative is funded through the State Improvement Grant (SIG) in order to promote the SIG goal of conducting "professional development and technical assistance for all stakeholders to increase and enhance inclusive early learning environments, improve student outcomes, and enable successful transitions of students with disabilities from school to post-school life."

Specifically, this initiative is directed at developing a coordinated system of Early Childhood: Special Education (EC: SE) professional development training for research based and best practices, including technical assistance to support and link local early childhood care and education communities, and promote inclusion practices to guide teaching/learning. Tasks within the last year have focused on the development of an informational brochure aimed at increasing awareness of the benefits of and possible funding sources for the early childhood program support position in school districts as well as CESAs.
